Born 80 miles north of here as Charles Buchinsky, he personified tough guy when I was growing up. After serving in the Army Air Corps during WWII he became an actor staring in dozens of films including The Magnificent Seven, The Great Escape and Death Wish. I played the Purple Ball at Lodestone Golf Course for Charles Bronson.
