Born to a poor family in Northern Illinois, he graduated from Eureka College and became a sports announcer. He then moved to Hollywood to become an actor and was subsequently elected the President of the Screen Actors Guild. He got a taste for politics becoming Governor of California and ultimately the 40th President of the United States. After leaving office he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. As any family member understands, Nancy Reagan appropriately described his battle as “The Long Goodbye”. I played the Purple Ball at Westfields Golf Club for President Ronald Reagan.
